U.S. bitcoin ETFs drew $175.99 million on Tuesday, bringing week-to-date inflows to more than $286 million. Blackrock and Fidelity led the buying, while ether and solana funds stayed under pressure.
U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs attracted $175.99 million on Tuesday, extending their winning streak to two sessions. Week-to-date inflows now stand above $286 million.
Blackrock and Fidelity lead the buying
Blackrock's IBIT took in $151.46 million, while Fidelity's FBTC added $24.54 million. Monday's inflow of $110.34 million came entirely through IBIT, so Tuesday added a second major buyer.
No bitcoin fund recorded an outflow, and trading value reached $1.58 billion. Net assets rose to $103.94 billion.
Ether and solana funds lose money
Ether ETFs, however, lost another $60.22 million. Blackrock's ETHA shed $93.28 million, while Fidelity's FETH attracted $28.58 million and Grayscale's Ether Mini Trust added $4.48 million.
Across Monday and Tuesday, ether ETFs have lost roughly $149 million, while bitcoin funds gained more than $286 million over the same period, according to the report.
Solana ETFs fared worse on the day, with a $19.16 million outflow, all of it from Grayscale's GSOL. That follows Monday's $8.23 million withdrawal and pushes two-day losses above $27 million.
Zcash moved the other way. Grayscale's ZCSH brought in another $3.45 million, extending its inflow streak to six consecutive sessions.
DWF Labs questions the forecasting value of flows
Research shared by DWF Labs found that daily ETF flows showed a much stronger relationship with bitcoin's performance in the preceding five days than with returns in the days that followed. According to DWF Labs, the correlation between ETF flows and the next five days of bitcoin returns was just 0.03.
Bitcoin News reads that as a sign that large inflow days often arrive after the market has already moved. On that view, ETF activity works better as a gauge of institutional participation than as a forecasting tool.
The next signal will come from persistence: Bitcoin News says a third strong bitcoin session would strengthen the case that institutional allocation is rebuilding.
