Coinbase has partnerships with PNC, JPMorgan Chase and Citi covering Bitcoin trading, account funding and stablecoin payments. PNC's service lets eligible private banking clients buy, sell and hold BTC inside its digital banking platform.
PNC announced Bitcoin access for clients on Dec. 9, 2025, naming Coinbase's Crypto-as-a-Service infrastructure as the technology behind it. Chase's deal covers ways to fund and connect Coinbase accounts, while Citi's latest collaboration targets business payments.
PNC opens Bitcoin trading to eligible private clients
Through Portfolio View in PNC Private Bank Online, qualifying clients can access crypto custody and trade Bitcoin without leaving the bank's platform, PNC said. The service targets a private banking business whose customers include wealthy individuals, families, family offices and business owners.
PNC called the launch the first generation of its "crypto for clients" service. The bank said access for other client groups, along with further features and services, would come in later phases.
Chase links Coinbase to cards, rewards and bank accounts
JPMorgan Chase's arrangement, announced in July 2025, set out three routes for customers to use Coinbase. Coinbase said the partnership covered a Chase customer base of more than 80 million.
The original schedule called for Chase credit cards to become a funding option in fall 2025. Redemption of Chase Ultimate Rewards points and direct bank account links were scheduled to begin in 2026. Coinbase also warned that credit card purchases could be subject to cash advance terms and conditions.
Citi backs stablecoin payments for businesses
Coinbase's Sept. 28, 2026, announcement describes two business payment services. Coinbase selected Citi's Virtual Account Wallet to support Coinbase Virtual Accounts, which let payment customers accept, hold and send funds, with incoming traditional currency automatically converted into stablecoins.
The second part connects Coinbase's payment infrastructure to Spring by Citi, the bank's merchant payment acceptance platform. According to Coinbase, institutional clients can accept stablecoins at checkout without holding or managing the tokens. Coinbase handles the conversion, and Citi settles the money as the bank of record.
Stablecore extends Coinbase to community banks
Coinbase also announced a Stablecore partnership on Sept. 16 for community and regional banks. Its plan identified a potential footprint exceeding 3,000 U.S. banks and credit unions, though that figure does not represent signed Coinbase partners.
Coinbase said implementation was underway with institutions including Amarillo National Bank in Texas. The product set includes buying, selling, holding, payments and staking.
