CoinMarketCap has completed its acquisition of derivatives-data platform CoinGlass for an undisclosed sum, adding open interest, funding rate and liquidation tracking to its price-tracking business. CoinGlass will keep its brand, team and pricing, while CoinMarketCap gains a specialized user base just as crypto derivatives volume cools.
CoinMarketCap acquired CoinGlass on September 25, for an undisclosed amount, expanding its coverage of leveraged trading across major exchanges. CoinGlass will keep its existing brand and team, and its website, app, free tools, API and pricing stay unchanged.
CoinGlass brings a different kind of user
CoinMarketCap reports approximately 115 million monthly users. CoinGlass, by contrast, has more than 5 million monthly users and over 10,000 API customers. CoinGlass tracks open interest, funding rates, liquidations and options. It covers 28 exchanges and more than 2,500 instruments. Its API also covers order books, order flow, ETF flows and several on-chain datasets.
The deal lands as derivatives volume cools
CoinGlass's own H1 2026 market report found that crypto derivatives generated $35.08 trillion in trading volume during the first six months of the year, or roughly $193.8 billion per day. That volume declined 15.7% from the same period in 2025. Average daily open interest reached $112.7 billion, down 10% year over year. Second-quarter open interest rose 2.1% from the first quarter. Trading volume over that same quarter fell 13.5%.
Binance ties the two data providers together
Binance acquired CoinMarketCap in April 2020, saying at the time the platform would keep operating independently. The CoinGlass purchase extends that data-expansion strategy under Binance's ownership by adding derivatives analytics that span 28 exchanges.
CoinMarketCap is not folding CoinGlass into its main product yet. The announcement does not specify how far technical integration will eventually go, leaving no detailed roadmap for combining the two companies' APIs or datasets.
