Veteran trader Peter Brandt says a decade of XRP price charts alone gives him reason to make a bet on the token, even as he distances himself from its most devoted holders. His Sept. 26 chart pairs a long-term narrowing pattern with a shorter one tied to this week's pullback.
Peter Brandt posted a chart on Sept. 26 spanning more than a decade of XRP trading, marking two long-term periods when the trading range narrowed before sharp advances. He also flagged a smaller pattern tied to XRP's recent decline. XRP stood near $1.52 on Sept. 26, below its $1.66 weekly high but up about 7.9% for the week.
Brandt separates chart interest from token loyalty
In an X post describing his chart-based interest in owning XRP, Brandt wrote that it is not necessary to be a certified cult member to be an interested owner of XRP. According to the Sept. 26 post: "The charts alone have always been enough reason for us to make a bet."
The founder of trading firm Factor Trading has relied on classical chart patterns throughout his career. He entered commodity markets in 1976 and founded the firm in 1980. His comments describe how he reads XRP's price history while questioning the conviction of some of its supporters.
What the $5.40 projection meant
Brandt's Sept. 26 post follows a Sept. 21 long-term chart indicating a possible advance to $5.40. When he shared that projection, XRP traded near $1.54, putting $5.40 roughly 251% above that price. The Sept. 26 post does not repeat $5.40 as a new target or set a timetable.
He has also distinguished a public chart call from a completed trade, saying that claims about executed trades require evidence beyond an X post. That distinction remains relevant to his latest reference to making a bet.
A pattern Brandt has flagged before
In November 2024, Brandt highlighted a narrowing XRP pattern he called a "massive coil", while stating he held no XRP position and had no plans to buy it at the time. XRP later climbed above $1.60 on Sept. 22 before retreating into the Sept. 26 chart. During that rise, Santiment counted 1,917 transfers worth at least $100,000 and 3,647 new wallets.
