Silver trades at $52.91 inside an active descending channel, and the source's analysis flags $52.66 as the critical support. Indicators point to a strong downtrend, though some readings suggest oversold conditions.
Silver broke down in a descending channel at $52.91, according to Investing.com's live technical analysis. The analysis calls the metal's downtrend severe and established, with strong momentum.
The primary risk is a breakdown below the critical $52.66 support, which would trigger further cascading liquidations, the analysis says.
Bears hold the trend indicators
The bearish case rests on trend strength. The ADX stands at 41.46, a strong trend with the -DI at 27.53 dominant. Meanwhile, the SuperTrend gives an active sell signal at 55.74.
Price also sits below the Ichimoku cloud, which spans 54.21 to 55.71. In addition, a bearish marubozu candle on Oct. 29 is a continuation signal.
Oversold readings give bulls an argument
However, some indicators lean the other way. The price is near the lower Bollinger Band at 53.01, which suggests oversold conditions. The RSI reads 33.66, approaching oversold territory, and the MACD histogram at 0.0526 points to fading bearish momentum.
The analysis maps trendline support at $52.66 with two touches and resistance at $54.68 with three. It marks $55.74 as the bull invalidation level and $52.66 as the bear invalidation level.
Targets if support gives way
In the bear scenario, the analysis lists targets at $50.68, $49.40 and $48.00, and rates its confidence high. The bull scenario carries low confidence, with a first target of $55.60.
The analysis names the $53.85 to $54.75 band, where the SMA20 and Kijun-sen resistance meet, as its preferred zone for selling rallies.
