Fundstrat cofounder Tom Lee turned Binance founder CZ's viral post into a pointed question for crypto holders, while his firm BitMine confirmed it now holds 6,001,302 ETH worth roughly $16.2 billion. The exchange comes as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and BNB hold steady gains and October 10 — the anniversary of crypto's largest liquidation event — approaches.

CZ's post draws a pointed reply

CZ posted a nighttime selfie in green tones with the caption "Soon…", prompting traders to search for hints of an "Uptober" rally or a BNB move. Tom Lee reposted it and responded directly to his audience: According to U.Today: "Agreed. Do you own enough crypto?"

The reply arrived days after Tom Lee, at the Korea Blockchain Week conference in Seoul, confirmed the market is in an active phase of the bull cycle, citing demand from AI systems, and maintained his $150,000 price target for Bitcoin. CZ has previously urged readers not to read hidden financial advice into his posts, saying any alignment with price moves was coincidental, while also stressing the strength of BNB Chain's infrastructure.

BitMine's accumulation program is nearly complete

Behind the joke sits a concrete corporate position. Publicly traded BitMine Immersion Technologies (NYSE: BMNR), chaired by Tom Lee, disclosed in its official financial report dated September 28 that it holds 6,001,302 ETH, worth around $16.2 billion.

The company's "Alchemy of 5%" purchasing program, launched in summer 2025, is now 98% complete, giving BitMine control of 4.9% of Ethereum's total supply. Roughly 84% of those holdings, about 5.067 million ETH, are staked, generating what the company describes as hundreds of millions of dollars in annual passive income.

A stable market ahead of a sensitive date

The exchange between Lee and CZ unfolds against a steady backdrop. By the end of September, Bitcoin is holding around $83,300, Ethereum is trading near $2,698, and BNB sits close to $757, with the three assets posting net gains of 7-11% over the past 30 days.

Their optimism comes as October 10 approaches — the date when, last year, the market suffered its largest liquidation event on record, totaling $19 billion. Industry consensus at the time attributed the cascading collapse to systemic failures and vulnerabilities in Binance's margin system.
