William Blair initiated coverage on CoreWeave with an Outperform rating, arguing the market underprices the AI cloud provider's earnings power. CRWV shares edged higher in pre-market trading, with Truist's financing reassurance and reported institutional buying from ARK Investment Management adding to the tone.
CoreWeave edged 0.3% higher in pre-open trading after William Blair initiated coverage on the stock with an Outperform rating. The research firm pointed to valuation multiples it called attractive relative to cloud infrastructure peers.
William Blair flags a valuation gap
William Blair said CoreWeave trades at 3.1 times enterprise value to sales, 5.2 times enterprise value to EBITDA, and 23.7 times enterprise value to EBIT based on calendar 2027 estimates. That sits well below the peer group medians of 6.1 times, 14.2 times, and 24.9 times on the same metrics. The firm said the market underestimates the earnings power that can emerge as contracted capacity reaches mature utilization.
CoreWeave carries a market cap of $46.9 billion and posted revenue growth of 115% over the last twelve months. William Blair also flagged risks including financing, AI demand, and customer concentration. Still, the firm said the market underestimates CoreWeave's ability to finance its growth efficiently.
Financing questions get addressed
An InvestingPro Tip cited alongside the initiation noted the company operates with a significant debt burden, with a debt-to-equity ratio of 10.27. But Truist said CoreWeave feels comfortable with its financing position for the remainder of 2026, following a $3.7 billion convertible senior note offering alongside a 35 million share at-the-market program. That reassurance helped reinforce the constructive tone around the initiation.
Institutional buying and a muted market backdrop
ARK Investment Management was reported to have acquired approximately 255,000 shares of CRWV on September 29, adding a high-profile buyer to the stock's recent support base. A Form 4 filing also disclosed insider activity for the same date.
The broader market offered little push of its own: the S&P 500 rose just 0.1% and the Nasdaq was essentially flat, meaning CRWV's move traced almost entirely to company-specific news. The stock remains well off its 52-week high of $153.20, though it has recovered from its 52-week low of $60.55.
