He said the economy has moved forward under pressure and shown resilience, and called for pursuing progress while keeping stability amid a complex international and domestic environment.
He also pressed the case for promoting continued economic development and improving people's well-being. Separately, he addressed the Taiwan issue, calling for deeper cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation alongside resistance to separatism.
According to Investing.com: "resolutely combat separatist forces advocating Taiwan independence, and oppose interference by external forces", Xi said. He added that China should promote the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations and advance the cause of national reunification.
Xi regularly attends this annual reception, held each year before China's October 1 National Day, and has frequently delivered addresses at the event.
